PreserVision is the eye vitamin line built to the AREDS nutrient profiles, the formulations examined in the Age-Related Eye Disease Studies run by the National Eye Institute. The brand has followed that body of research for more than two decades, which is why the AREDS name appears on the packaging rather than a proprietary blend name.
The first question is format. Softgels are the standard option and the 120 count is the larger package of the two AREDS 2 products. The chewable tablets exist for people who would rather not swallow a softgel, and the 60 count reflects that different serving format, so compare supply length rather than bottle count when you are working out cost.
The second question is which formula. AREDS 2 and AREDS 3 are different nutrient profiles, not different strengths of the same thing. If you have been told to take an AREDS formula, the profile you were told to take is the one to buy, and switching between them is a conversation to have with the person who recommended it.
An eye vitamin is not a substitute for an eye exam, and AREDS formulas carry substantial amounts of specific vitamins and minerals. If you already take a multivitamin or other supplements, it is worth reviewing the labels together with your eye doctor or physician so you know what overlaps. Nothing on this page is medical advice, and we do not recommend a formula for any individual.
