Okra is an unusual place to start an eye care line. Zocular was developed by Dr. Peter Pham, a board certified ophthalmologist, around a refined okra extract blended with selected botanicals. The polysaccharides in okra give the formulas their distinctive slippery feel, and that same base runs through the entire range rather than appearing in one hero product.

The Zocular range

• ZocuFoam, a foaming lid cleanser and moisturizer, sold as a three month supply or a two pack that covers four to six months.
• ZocuWipe, okra infused lid wipes in a 30 count box or a three pack totaling 90 wipes.
• ZocuShield, a gel cleanser with more than 100 applications per tube.
• ZEST, the in office eyelid procedure performed at an eye care practice rather than at home.
• ZocuLash, a 2.5mL lash serum.

How to choose

Format is the main decision, because the okra base is common to all three home cleansers. Foam is the easiest to spread with fingertips at a sink. Wipes are portioned and travel well, which makes them the practical pick for a work bag or a hotel. The gel is the most concentrated of the three and lasts the longest per package, so it suits people who already know the line works for them.

Formulation notes

Zocular products are paraben free, hypoallergenic, dermatologist tested and pH balanced to match tears. That matters most to people who react to fragrance or to foaming agents in general facial cleansers.
