Eyelid and Facial Cleansers

What separates an eyelid and facial cleanser from the face wash in your bathroom is where it is meant to go. These are formulated for the lash line, the lid margin and the skin immediately around the eye, so they are made to be used close to an area most cleansers tell you to avoid. It is the largest hygiene category we carry, with more than a hundred products across six formats and brands that range from clinic staples like OCuSOFT, Avenova and Cliradex to newer names such as We Love Eyes, Zocular and Heyedrate.

Six formats, six routines

Eyelid Cleansing Foams. Pump bottles that dispense a soft foam onto a fingertip or pad. OCuSOFT Lid Scrub in its Original, Plus and Platinum versions, Cliradex Light Foam and the Heyedrate foaming wash all sit here.
Eyelid Cleansing Gels. Thicker formulas that stay where you put them, which some people prefer for working along the lash line without drips.
Eyelid Cleansing Oils. Oil based cleansers used to lift makeup, mascara and oily residue from lashes and lids.
Eyelid Cleansing Sprays. No touch sprays applied to closed lids or onto a pad, which makes them the easiest format to use one handed.
Hypochlorous Acid Sprays. A distinct group within sprays, built around hypochlorous acid and usually unscented. Avenova, Bruder, OCuSOFT HypoChlor, Twenty Twenty and Hyclear all offer one.
Eyelid Cleansing Wipes. Pre moistened pads and towelettes in tubs and boxes, including Bruder, Cliradex towelettes, Optase preservative free wipes and I-LID 'N LASH from I-Med Pharma.

What is on the label

A few ingredients come up again and again. Tea tree oil extract appears at stated strengths, commonly one percent or two percent, across foams, wipes and facial cleansers. Hypochlorous acid is the basis of its own subcategory. Blephex builds its lid cleansers around manuka honey and Dead Sea salt. Alongside those are plain, gentle formulas with no active botanical at all, including OCuSOFT's baby version, for people who want the mildest option available. Strength is often signaled in the product name, with Original, Plus and extra strength versions of the same line sitting side by side, so check which one you are adding to the cart.

Choosing yours

Start with the routine rather than the brand. A pump foam or spray suits a bathroom sink, while wipes are what people keep in a bag or a desk drawer. Then look at the ingredient list and pick between a tea tree formula, a hypochlorous spray and a plain gentle cleanser, keeping in mind that fragrance and botanicals are the usual culprits behind sensitivity. Finally, compare pack size and cost per use, since the same cleanser often comes in two bottle sizes, in two packs, or in kits that pair a cleanser with wipes. If your eye care professional named a specific product or ingredient for you, that instruction outranks anything on this page.
