Contact Lens Supplies

Contact Lens Supplies is the part of lens wear that happens outside the eye: the bottle on the bathroom shelf, the case in the travel bag, and the small tool that makes getting a lens on and off less of a wrestling match. It covers soft lenses, rigid gas permeable lenses, and scleral lenses, which are worn differently and have different products behind them. Brands in this category include Bausch + Lomb, Boston, Menicon, Tangible, ScleralFil, PuriLens, Biotrue, Renu, Opti-Free, Clear Care, DMV, LensBase, and EZi Lens.

What you will find

Multipurpose Solutions are the all-in-one bottles used to rinse, clean, and store lenses between wears. Boston, Menicon Unique pH, Biotrue, Renu, and Tangible Clean all sit here.
Saline Solutions are buffered salt solutions rather than cleaners. Preservative free single-use vials from ScleralFil, Menicon Lacripure, and Tangible Fill are the common format, alongside PuriLens Plus bottles.
Protein Remover covers the periodic deep-cleaning products, such as Boston One Step liquid enzymatic cleaner and Menicon Progent, that are used on a schedule rather than every day.
Contact Lens Cases runs from standard soft lens cases to the wider barrels made for large diameter lenses.
Scleral Lens Supplies gathers the specifics of scleral wear: filling saline in vials, large diameter cases, and handling tools such as the S5 inserter and the DMV scleral cup.
Soft Contact Lens Supplies holds the everyday items for soft lens wearers, including inserters and applicators from LensBase, DMV, and EZi Lens.

Compatibility is the first thing to check

Not every solution suits every lens. Materials differ, and some lenses carry a surface coating, such as Hydra-PEG, with its own care requirements. Several products state on the label which lens types they are made for, and the Tangible range is built around coated lenses in particular. Where a label does not say, read the packaging that came with your lenses or ask the eye care professional who fitted them. We do not match a specific solution to a specific lens for you, because only the person who fitted the lens knows what is on it.

Formats, sizes, and how much to buy

The same product often comes in more than one size. Multipurpose solutions are sold in full-size bottles, in two-packs that cover several months, and in travel sizes that clear carry-on limits. Preservative free saline is sold by vial count, commonly in packs of 30, 60, or 98, so it helps to work out how many vials a week your routine uses before choosing a pack. Some kits pair a solution with a case, which is a tidy way to replace both at the same time.

Handling tools

Inserters, removers, and applicators are the least discussed part of lens wear and often the most useful. Plungers and cups are made for rigid and scleral lenses, silicone inserters and soft applicators are aimed at soft lenses, and stands such as the S5 hold the lens steady while you place it. Hand prep products round out the group. If a lens type is new to you, ask your provider which handling method they teach, then pick the tool that matches it.
