Menicon, in three product lines

Menicon makes care products for rigid gas permeable and scleral lens wearers, a group the mainstream solution aisle tends to skip past. Three lines cover most of what a GP wearer needs day to day: Unique pH for storage and conditioning, LacriPure saline for filling and rinsing, and Progent for a periodic deep clean.

The three Menicon lines

• Unique pH is a multipurpose solution for gas permeable lenses. Lenses soak in it and no separate daily cleaner is required. The formula adjusts toward the pH of natural tears. We carry a 4 fl oz bottle with a case and a 2.5 oz travel kit.
• LacriPure is a unit dose, non preserved 0.9 percent sodium chloride saline in 5 mL blow fill seal vials, with no buffers or preservatives. It is indicated for rinsing soft, gas permeable and hybrid lenses before insertion, and for filling scleral lenses. Sold here in a 98 vial carton.
• Progent is a biweekly protein and deposit remover for RGP lenses. Lenses sit in it for a short soak rather than being rubbed. Sold as 7 treatments, on its own or bundled with a large diameter case.

Before you order

Two practical notes. Progent should not be used on lenses treated with Tangible Hydra-PEG, because it can damage that coating, so check with your fitter if you are not sure what your lenses have on them. And scleral wearers usually need both a filling saline and a storage solution, since one does not do the other's job.

If sclerals are new to you, the large diameter case is worth adding, because a standard case is too small for the lens and forcing one in is how lenses get scratched. Your fitting practice can tell you which parts of this range suit the material you were fitted with.
